Let’s be real, I’m not going many places these days so for now I’m loving wearing my Box Top for endless video calls while working from home… but I can’t wait to wear out too! I already have yarn picked out to make another one because it’s so comfy and cute. It’s that piece in my closet that I can’t stop reaching for.

Sizing
This pattern is designed for women’s sizes XS-5XL (based on the standard measurements provided by the Craft Yarn Council). This design is intended to be worn in a boxy, loose fitting shape so there is 11-13″ of positive ease for each size.
The Box Top is intended to be a short, *almost* cropped style but it’s super easy to add extra length if that’s not your thing! The pattern includes notes to help you create additional length if you’d like, just keep in mind you will need additional yarn for this!

The yarn I used for this top is one of my all-time favorites – I even included it in my Top 5 Summer Yarns! It’s a perfect blend of cotton and bamboo, which is super breathable and creates a gorgeous drape! If you haven’t guessed yet, this yarn is Coboo from Lion Brand! It’s a wonderful, budget-friendly yarn that’s perfect for all kinds of projects.

Don’t forget these!
There’s a few other things you’ll need for this pattern! You’ll need a US G/6 4mm Crochet Hook (these are my fav!) as well as scissors and a tapestry needle. The last thing that you’ll want to have is a way to block your top! These blocking mats and pins have been a game changer for me because they make my blocking so effortless and the results are perfect!
Blocking is your Best Friend
Let’s be honest – If there’s two parts of a pattern you probably skip… it’s making a gauge swatch and blocking. But trust me, these two steps are worth it for the Box Top!
What is blocking?
Blocking is an easy process to help shape your final project and make it look finished! I recommend wet blocking for this pattern, which is where you will completely submerge your finished project in cold water, gently wring out excess water, and lay it flat to dry. You can also steam block your project, but the real magic happens when you get the Box Top completely wet and pin it to dry.
The blocking mats I use have a ruler on them, which makes it super easy to block my top in the exact final dimensions for my size. When blocking this top, you’ll definitely want to use pins so you can gently stretch your top and have it dry in that shape. By stretching the top to the final dimensions, you’re going to open up those beautiful eyelets, create an amazing drape, and it will add some length to your finished top!
