Rainbow Sherbet Baby Blanket Crochet Pattern

The Rainbow Sherbet Baby Blanket is a cheerful crochet pattern featuring classic ribbing, thin stripes, and a fun pop of color! I’ve always wanted to make a rainbow baby blanket and this yarn’s color palette was exactly what I had in mind.

Finding the perfect crochet ribbing was a tough one for this because I wanted to make sure the stripes were thin and crisp! After playing around with countless swatches, i finally came up with the perfect combination to create this clean, crochet ribbing that worked perfectly for the rainbow stripes.

One of my favorite summer traditions is our Saturday ice cream trips! As we get closer to our little one’s arrival this fall, I really cherish our family trips with me, Austin, and Guppy to get ice cream every weekend. The name for this pattern is a little tribute to how much I enjoy our time and can’t wait for BB to come along too!

The Softest Yarn Ever

If you’ve never tried this yarn before, you’re in for a real treat! Snuggle Puff is the softest yarn I’ve ever felt before. In my recent yarn review, I talked about what makes this yarn so special. It’s a blown cotton yarn in a heavy worsted/aran weight. Because of this super soft fiber and unique construction, this yarn is on the delicate side. I would recommend hand washing it. If you’re looking for something that you can throw in the wash, keep reading for more easy care yarn options!

For this pattern, you’ll need 5 skeins of the main color and one skein for each of the 5 accent colors. The main color uses about 700 yards, with about 300 yards total for your accent colors (pattern is shown with 5 different accent colors, using 60 yards each. Keep in mind, you can always use less accent colors – just make sure you have at least one skein of 2 different colors!

Easy Care Yarn Options

I adore Snuggle Puff, but sometimes it’s nice to have a low maintenance yarn that you don’t have to worry about! If you’re looking for a yarn that comes in an amazing variety of colors, can be thrown in the washer (and dryer!), and is super affordable… you will LOVE Brava yarn. For this pattern, I would recommend grabbing 4 skeins of worsted Brava for your main color and using Brava minis for your stripes!

If you want to stick with cotton yarn, I also adore Comfy Worsted yarn. It comes in small skeins that are just right for a striped pattern like this so you don’t have to buy a giant skein when you only need a small amount of each color!

Let’s Talk Skills

If you’ve used my crochet patterns before, you know I love to create interesting textures using easy modifications to your basic crochet stitches. This pattern has easy repeats, but you’ll definitely want to make sure you’re comfortable with carrying yarn and keeping a relaxed, even tension before tackling this one. I would recommend this pattern for the advanced beginner or intermediate crocheter. The recommended yarn is not ideal for frogging (or ripping out your work to redo it, so try this stitch pattern with some scrap yarn or use one of the easy care options to keep things simple).

This pattern also includes an exclusive video tutorial to help you get started and give you some tips to keep in mind along the way!
